WWE NXT Results:

NXT Tag Team Championship Match | DarkState (Osiris Griffin and Saquon Shugars) (c) vs. Swipe Right (Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes) w/Evolve Champion Jackson Drake

Griffin runs over Smokes and Baylor. Shugars and Griffin take turns beating the crap out of Baylor and Smokes. Swipe Right can’t get out of the gates and is totally outmatched so far. Baylor and Smoke cut the ring in half and managed to work over Shugars. Griffin gets a blind tag. Shugars slingshots Baylor into a powerslam boot combo from Griffen. DarkState clears the ring.

After the break, Smoke and Baylor are back in control, beating down Shugars. Griffin tags in and clears the ring. Drake puts Smokes’ foot on the bottom rope to break up the pin. Drake gets into it with Cutler. In the confusion, Tony D’Angelo attacks Shugars. Smokes pins Shugars.

Winners and NEW NXT Tag Team Champions, Swipe Right!

Grade: B-

Not sure about heel vs. heel matches, but if they do happen, they almost have to be for a championship. In any event, Swipe Right and DarkState may be the Super Bowl of teams this writer is 100% sure about. DarkState has been in angles, but none of them have had any real substance. DarkState attacks someone, and they feud for a few weeks, usually with DarkState going over in the end. Hard to care about anything they do when it’s all so hollow.

Swipe Right or even the Vanity Project as a whole are still clearly very new at this, but their extremely punchable faces will carry them as long as they never ever try to turn them face. Despite the weird dynamics and confused crowd, this match managed to be pretty fun. Weirdly, their performance tonight made this writer wonder if DarkState can operate as a face team. The crowd got and stayed with them. No matter how you feel about them, Swipe Right going over made sense here. DarkState are heels, but D’Angelo costing them this match is more than justified.

Sean Legacy vs. Keanu Carver

Legacy attacks Carver as soon as the bell rings. Carver is sent out of the ring. Legacy tries a dive and eats a stiff elbow to the face. Carver slams Legacy on the ring apron. After breaking the count, Carver continues his assault. The fight ends up outside the ring again. Carver tries to spear Legacy through a wall. Legacy counters with a superkick. Springboard 450 by Legacy. Carver kicks out. Carver sends Legacy into orbit with a POUNCE. Modified body slam by Carver for the win.

Winner- Keanu Carver

Grade: C+

Look, this writer knows they see something in Legacy, but this match shouldn’t have gone longer than three minutes.

Men’s WWE Speed Championship Triple Threat Match | Jasper Troy (c) vs. Elio LeFleur vs. Eli Knight

LeFleur pins Troy after stealing Knight’s pin after Knight hits a moonsault.

Grade: C+

Speed matches, amirite?

NXT Women’s Championship Match | Jacy Jayne (c) vs. Sol Ruca

Jayne gets in Ruca‘s face before the match starts. Zaria Spears Ruca out of nowhere! Zaria drops Ruca with an F5! The bell hasn’t rung. The referee asks Ruca if she can go. Ruca says yes. Jayne destroys Ruca with the Rolling Encore for the win.

Winner and STILL NXT Women’s Champion, Jacy Jayne!

After the match, Zaria F5s Ruca on the commentary desk.

Grade: B+

With so many title changes already tonight, the writing was on the wall for Ruca to lose this. Regardless of how telegraphed the Zaria turn may have been, whoever booked this subverted that expectation by having the attack happen before the match. Despite totally expecting it, this writer didn’t expect it. Great piece of business here.

Women’s Speed Championship #1 Contenders Tournament Match | Blake Monroe vs. Thea Hail

The fight spills out of the ring. While the referee is distracted, Jaida Parker hops the barricade and levels Monroe with Hypnotiq. Hail hits a Monroe with a Moonlight drive for the win.

Winner- Thea Hail

Grade: C

Happy Monroe and Parker is continuing. That’s a fun feud with two people who are polar opposites. The IWC can kick rocks.

Uriah Connors vs. Kale Dixon

Dixon and Connors trade shots. Dixon lands a Fozbury flop followed by a spinning splash for a near fall. Connors gets the win after a running knee trembler.

Winner- Uriah Connors

Grade: C+

Ok TV match. Dixon may have something, but the jury is still out on Connors. What happens with this heel group will show us if this can work.

NXT North American Championship Match | Ethan Page (c) vs. Myles Borne

Borne and Page trade strikes. Borne kicks Page in his injured ankle. Page hurts himself further on a leapfrog. Borne works over Page’s ankle. Borne sends Page out of the ring and lands a baseball slide. Page manages to toss Borne on the commentary desk with a Razor’s Edge. After the break, Borne fires up. Page and Borne trade big moves. Borne lands Borne again.

Swipe Right distracts the referee while Drake hits Borne with the championship. Page pins Borne. Borne kicks out. Ricky Starks appears, but before he can get involved, NXT Champion Joe Hendry hops the barricade and pushes Saints off the top. Back in the ring, Page is sent into an exposed turnbuckle. Page stumbles into Borne Again. Borne gets the three count.

Winner and NEW NXT North American Champion, Myles Borne!

Grade: B-

These two have good chemistry, but the mess that led to the finish drops this one down a few pegs.
