Speaking to Isa of Lucha Libre Online, the WWE Superstar shared that Mysterio learned he could speak Spanish after Rusev’s interview with the outlet.
According to Rusev, Mysterio personally approached him backstage and asked if it was true that he spoke Spanish. Rusev confirmed that he “kind of” did, which led Rey to suggest texting him in Spanish. However, Rusev admitted he wasn’t fully confident yet and preferred to improve his skills first before continuing the conversation in Spanish.
Rusev recalled the moment, saying, “He came to me and was like, ‘Hey, I heard you speak Spanish, is that true?’ And I’m like, yeah, kinda. Then he wanted to text me in Spanish, and I said no, let me brush up on it a little more, let me get that Rosetta Stone, let me talk to [Isa] a bit more, and I’ll get back to you.”
Rusev competed in a high-profile match at WrestleMania 42. The Bulgarian Brute suffered a head injury during the six-pack ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship at the April 19 premium live event.
