AEW continued building anticipation for Willow Nightingale’s return during the July 2 edition of Collision, airing another vignette centered on the former TBS Champion.
While the company stopped short of announcing a return date, the latest teaser has fans wondering whether her comeback could be just around the corner.
The vignette arrived as AEW continued dropping hints that Nightingale’s time away from the ring may soon be coming to an end.
Although nothing has been made official, the timing has certainly planted a few seeds before next week’s Beach Break special.
Willow Nightingale sets her sights on AEW gold in new vignette
In the latest video package, Nightingale reflected on her goals after months away from competition, making it clear that her ambitions extend beyond simply returning to action.
“With everything I’ve done, I’m still not the best. But this year, I can prove it. And I will,” Nightingale said.
The vignette also featured beach-themed scenery, a detail that immediately caught fans’ attention given that AEW Beach Break takes place next week. While AEW did not directly confirm a return date, the visual cue added another layer of intrigue to the ongoing comeback story.
Earlier in the broadcast, AEW World Trios Champions The Conglomeration discussed the status of several allies during a backstage interview. With Mark Briscoe sidelined following Dynamite and Tomohiro Ishii also injured, the group noted that “at least Willow Nightingale will be back soon,” providing another on-screen tease that her return is nearing.
Nightingale has been out of action for nearly two months after suffering an injury that forced her to relinquish the TBS Championship and withdraw from this year’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Before the setback, she had ended Mercedes Moné’s lengthy title reign and established herself as one of AEW’s most popular babyfaces.
For now, AEW is keeping the cards close to its chest. But with Beach Break on the horizon, it appears Nightingale’s return may be closer than fans can say, “Here comes the comeback.”
