Josh Alexander Had About 72 Hours Notice For IMPACT Wrestling Return

Josh Alexander is feeling good about his return to IMPACT Wrestling.

WrestleZone recently spoke with Alexander to promote his appearance at IMPACT Wrestling‘s Victory Road event. During the conversation, Alexander was asked how quickly his return at Slammiversary came together.

Alexander went down with a triceps tear in March. That injury typically takes several months to heal. Alexander said he’d been working out in the ring in July, but he and Scott D’Amore felt good enough about his progress to have him at Slammiversary. Alexander confronted IMPACT World Champion Alex Shelley after the main event, but he didn’t work a match until the next month.

“Oh, maybe 72 hours? [laughs] I knew I was feeling good. I knew I had my appointment with my doctor for the check-up. He was saying, optimistically, the best [estimate for a return] was mid-July. We of course were in mid-July,” he explained, “and Scott D’Amore gave me a call a few days before and said, ‘We’re going to do this, this and this.’ I had already been training in-ring, I moved down here to Windsor, so I had been training in-ring.

“So Scott had seen me in the ring, trying to get some movements out to see if I still had it. I was feeling good,” Alexander added. “We were all feeling very confident in that and we obviously held off for a month from any in-ring action. That gave me a buffer zone, but things are good.”

Victory Road takes place on Friday, September 8. Our full interview with Josh Alexander will be released on WrestleZone soon.
