Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: Jade Cargill Arrives In WWE, Generational Knockouts Match, Brittany Jade Interview

Jade Cargill officially signs with WWE. IMPACT 1000 continues with a generational Knockouts match. Julia Hart earns a shot at the TBS Championship. Brittany Jade chats with WrestleZone, and more. Let’s break it down in this week’s edition of Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up!

Jade Cargill Signs With WWE

WWE dropped major news Tuesday morning, revealing they had officially signed former AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill to a multi-year contract. As expected, this acquisition caught the attention of many WWE fans and talent.

After WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque hailed Cargill as “a dominant athlete who’s here to change the game,” Grand Slam Champion Bayley later chimed in with her own welcoming statement for Cargill.

“Hello, I am the Tree of Life here in the WWE. Pleasure to meet you. Please feel free to watch very closely this Friday as I break down that cheating, nosey, idiot @MsCharlotteWWE. Enjoy!!!!!!!!! And welcome………” Bayley tweeted.

In response, Cargill noted that had received prior notice to watch out for Bayley, writing “Warm welcome from a ‘role model.’ Heard from my friends you’re also the one to look out for.”

Upon signing to WWE, Cargill spoke with Sports Illustrated, outlining the goals she’s aiming to achieve in the company.

“There is no way to create a legacy or become a household name by just showing up,” Cargill said. “I’m not going to take anything for granted. No one will say, and no one has ever said, ‘Jade is lazy’ or ‘Jade is just trying to get by on her looks.’ That’s because I work my butt off. I worked with Bryan [Danielson], and this was before I’d have matches.”

“I’d be sweating my butt off, taking hard bumps, feeling like my shoulder was about to give out, but I didn’t care if I was tired or sore. I was getting the best coaching, and I wasn’t about to take that for granted. Even if that meant I was about to pass out, I was going to put in the work. If I’m lacking in an area, I’m working on it. That’s how I was raised. I know nothing is perfect, but dang, you can get close. And that’s my goal.”

IMPACT 1000 Hosts A Generational Knockouts Match

IMPACT Wrestling continued its 1000th episode special last week, closing out the festivities with a generational Knockouts match. This headlining contest saw Knockouts of the past and present collide in a 10-woman tag team match. Knockouts Champion Trinity was paired with the likes of Jordynne Grace, Mickie James, Gail Kim, and Awesome Kong. On the other side, Angelina Love (who was accompanied by Velvet Sky) teamed up with current Knockouts Deonna Purrazzo, Tasha Steelz, Gisele Shaw, and Savannah Evans.

This contest marked official in-ring returns for Gail Kim and Awesome Kong, who last wrestled in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Despite the wide gap between their in-ring appearances, both Kim and Kong held their own, taking down some of the present-day Knockouts involved in the matchup.

The closing moments of the match saw Gisele Shaw facing off with Awesome Kong. Unfortunately for Shaw, Kong’s strength was too much to overcome, as the two-time Knockouts Champion nailed Shaw with an Implant Buster to secure the win for her team.

Julia Hart Secures A Shot at the TBS Championship

This Sunday, Julia Hart will face Kris Statlander at AEW WrestleDream. There, Hart will challenge Statlander for the TBS Championship, giving Hart an opportunity to secure her first piece of championship gold in AEW.

Ahead of this TBS Championship match, AEW President Tony Khan spoke about Hart’s character evolution during the WrestleDream media call.

“I think Julia is somebody that’s been with us since Daily’s Place. It’s crazy to think about how young Julia is. She’s another wrestler that’s been with us since she was a teenager. It’s amazing how many great stars for AEW developed out of that Daily’s Place era. It’s something to think about. We found something that really worked very well there for us, and in the back of my mind, Daily’s Place is always there. It’s a great venue and it’s worked tremendously well for us,” Khan said. “We’ve shown that we can create a great developmental system out of there and produce great talent and help people that have all the potential in the world to realize that potential in AEW.”

“Julia Hart in particular has just been on fire and she’s just such a pleasure to work with,” Khan continued. “Julia Hart works really hard. She always shows up. She has great ideas. She’s very, very gifted athlete. It’s amazing how far it has come because I remember when we started working with Julia Hart as a teenager, and it was her idea. She said, ‘I’d be a great cheerleader for The Varsity Blondes.’ And I thought, ‘Oh, okay, that could be cool,’ and she went out and did a great job with it. She worked really hard at it. Then when this presented itself organically, this opportunity for her to go with the House of Black, she ran with it, and she has done so much [since].”
