Jack Swagger played for the Oklahoma Sooners in college and Good Ol’ JR Jim Ross happens to be a big supporter, being an Oklahoma native himself. During his junior year, Swagger was introduced to Jim Ross by his friend and former teammate Dusty Dvoracek. JR, who was the head of talent relations in WWE at the time told Swagger to give him a call once he graduated.
Swagger graduated with a degree in finance and went for a WWE tryout. Just as a backup plan, he landed a job anyway, but received a call from WWE confirming that he got in. This all happened on the day that he was supposed to start his job!
