TNA iMPACT Results

Thursday Night iMPACT starts now!

Xia Brookside Addresses Her Feud with Lei Ying Lee

The show kicks off with Xia Brookside in the ring. Brookside takes a moment to soak in the crowd reaction. She mocks the fans for siding with Lei Ying Lee during their feud. Brookside says The Angel Warriors was supposed to be her stepping stone, but the team ended up becoming more about the current TNA Knockouts World Champion. The crowd responds with “overrated” chants. Brookside calls her former friend a dumbass and vows to take the title from Lee at TNA Slammiversary.

Lei Ying Lee interrupts. Lee questions why Brookside destroyed their alliance. She then says something in Mandarin, which Brookside refuses to translate. Lee reveals that what she said was that she doesn’t want to wait until Slammiversary and will face Brookside tonight in Denver.

A huge brawl breaks out, prompting security to rush to the ring and pull the two women apart. Lee takes out several security guards and sets up Brookside for a blockbuster, but Brookside pulls one of the guards in front of her, causing him to take the move instead.

The confrontation ends with Lei Ying Lee raising her title in the ring as Brookside taunts her from the outside.

Mike Santana Calls Out Nic Nemeth

Mike Santana addresses Nic Nemeth’s actions from last week’s TNA iMPACT. Santana says he knew Nemeth would eventually turn his back on him. He vows to rip Nemeth’s heart out of his chest and make him watch as he eats it at Slammiversary.

KC Navarro then comes out and asks Santana to focus on their six-man tag team match later tonight. Santana tells KC that he’s known him for a long time and promises to stay focused on tonight’s match, but warns him that he better know who’s got his back.

Mike Santana, Nic Nemeth, and KC Navarro vs. Mustafa Ali and The Great Hands

  • The finish of the match saw Mike Santana hit a double Rolling Buck 50, followed by Nic Nemeth delivering a double Danger Zone to The Great Hands to secure the victory.

Winners: Mike Santana, Nic Nemeth, and KC Navarro

Navarro attempts to play peacemaker between Santana and Nemeth. Ryan Nemeth then strikes the TNA World Champion from behind. Navarro confronts Ryan, only to be accidentally laid out by Santana. Nic Nemeth takes advantage of the distraction and plants Santana with a superkick.

Grade: B+

Solid match. The triple powerbomb spot was insane. Santana and Nemeth worked together to secure the win, only for Nemeth to blindside the champion for the second time. As for Navarro, a feud appears to be looming between him and Santana following the post-match angle.

Backstage Confrontation

Nic Nemeth checks on KC Navarro backstage. Nic tells KC that he shouldn’t trust anybody and tries to turn him against Santana. Ryan Nemeth then shows up and gets into a heated confrontation with Navarro.

Santana arrives but is held back by security. Mike says he’s tired of this bullshit and asks KC if he’s okay. Navarro says he’s fine and tells Santana to focus on Slammiversary.

King’s Speech ft. Frankie Kazarian, Leon Slater, and Cedric Alexander

Frankie Kazarian kicks off his King’s Speech segment. Kazarian hypes up the Ultimate X match coming up at Slammiversary. He takes credit for the match’s creation, referencing his participation in the first-ever Ultimate X match.

Kazarian takes a couple of shots at the Denver crowd before welcoming his first guest, former X-Division Champion Leon Slater. “The Youngest In Charge” makes his way to the ring. Kazarian then welcomes his next guest, reigning X-Division Champion Cedric Alexander.

Kazarian brings up Slater’s loss against Alexander for the X-Division Championship and his failure to become the longest-reigning X-Division Champion. He implies that he is the co-holder of the record, which in reality belongs to Austin Aries.

New Participant in X Division Match at TNA Slammiversary

Slater is about to speak but is interrupted by Cedric Alexander. A tense confrontation breaks out, but Kazarian tries to keep both guests civil. Slater says Alexander will never understand the pressure of carrying the hopes of his family and UK fans.

Alexander interrupts again, and a shoving contest breaks out. Slater snatches the title from Alexander and claims it as his own.

Kazarian then takes control of the segment and reveals himself as the third participant in the Ultimate X match, following Daria Rae’s decision, to the surprise of both Alexander and Slater. He tells production to hit his “sexy music” as the segment comes to a close.

Inside The Music ft. AJ Francis

AJ Francis stars in a comedic documentary-style vignette building up his feud with Elijah. Francis claims that he owns Elijah’s likeness and his music catalog.

Ricky Sosa vs. Dak Draper

Ricky Sosa arrives to his banger of an entrance theme. Eric Young is on guest commentary and calls Sosa a “punk” and a “pretender.”

  • The finish of the match saw Sosa hit Draker with the Blue Thunder Bang for the win.

TNA is slowly building up Ricky Sosa, and I’m absolutely fine with that. He’s been involved in showcase matches since signing with the promotion, but his biggest test comes next Sunday at Slammiversary against former TNA World Champion Eric Young.

Fourth Participant for Ultimate X Match Revealed

The Elegance Brand knocks on Daria Rae’s door. The Suit comes out, and the Personal Concierge asks if more spots are available in the X-Division, as teased by Frankie Kazarian earlier tonight.

Daria says yes, and the Concierge hypes up Mr. Elegance as the perfect next participant in the match. Daria states that she doesn’t go by what talent has to say, but instead makes decisions based on statistics. She then confirms Mr. Elegance as the fourth participant in the Ultimate X match.

The Elegance Brand celebrates, until Indi Hartwell bumps into Ash by Elegance. A brief confrontation breaks out, but Indi walks away as she heads to her match against Elayna Black.

Indi Hartwell vs. Elayna Black

  • The finish of the match saw Indi Hartwell catch Elayna Black in a backslide pin for the win.

Winner: Indi Hartwell

Hartwell immediately goes on the attack, targeting Ash by Elegance on the apron. Mara Sade joins the fray, and a huge Knockouts brawl breaks out. Sade and Hartwell ultimately clear the ring.

The post-match angle ends with Hartwell raising Ash’s sandal to a big pop from the crowd.

Grade: B-

Not a fan of the in-ring action, but I can see Hartwell, Sade, Ash, and Black as potential participants in TNA Lockdown in August. Let’s be honest, Hartwell is over with the TNA crowd not because of her in-ring work, but because of how she carries herself. As for Elayna, she’s a natural heel and could be a standout in the Knockouts Division.

More Ultimate X Participants Announced

Fabian Aichner runs into Santino Marella and the two converse in Italian. After asking Marella how his trip back home was, Aichner requests an opportunity in the Ultimate X match.

Marella doesn’t deny a fellow Italian this opportunity. Nic Nemeth then shows up and throws KC Navarro’s hat into the Ultimate X lineup “for old time’s sake.” Marella agrees, but Aichner is clearly not a fan of Nic’s antics.

Gia Miller is providing an update on The Hardys’ return for the first time since Wicked Garden when Mike Santana grabs the camera and calls out Nic Nemeth for a face-to-face confrontation.

Broken Moose?

The Moose joins The Hardys ahead of the six-man tag team main event on TNA iMPACT. In a hilarious moment, Moose’s music switches midway to The Hardys’ theme as he is revealed to be wearing attire similar to Matt and Jeff’s Broken-era look. Even Moose is startled when the music changes, creating a lighthearted moment.

Moose and The Hardys vs. The System

  • The finish of the match saw Alisha Edwards strike Moose with a kendo stick, allowing Eddie Edwards to hit the Boston Knee Party for the win.

Winners: The System

Grade: B+

The crowd popped big time when Moose flattened Eddie Edwards with a powerbomb on the apron. The Righteous’ appearance spelled trouble for The Hardys. It seems the feud between the two teams is far from over.

Let’s see if all this culminates in a cinematic match between Broken Hardys and The Righteous, because that’s what I really want to see TNA try out with AMC.

Mike Santana and Nic Nemeth Engage in a War of Words

Mike Santana calls out Nic Nemeth’s “bitch ass” to the ring for a face-to-face. Nemeth’s music hits, but instead Ryan Nemeth shows up. Ryan claims his big brother is the best wrestler in the world and the next TNA World Champion.

Santana tells Ryan that his big brother is a “big bitch,” prompting the crowd to respond with “he’s a bitch” chants. Nic eventually appears and tries to get inside Santana’s head, saying Santana might as well get a blip because he’s made the most of his 15 minutes of fame. He adds that Santana can call him whatever he wants, but he’ll call him the champion at TNA Slammiversary.

Santana points out that Nic still hasn’t entered the ring so he can whoop his ass, which draws another “bitch” chant from the crowd as he points the mic toward them. Santana says he rests his case and vows to retain the title at Slammiversary as TNA iMPACT comes to a close.

Overall Grade: B-

Tonight’s show had its moments and misses.

For starters, the pull-apart brawl between Xia Brookside and Lei Ying Lee didn’t look believable at all. Lee almost botched her blockbuster on the security guard. Speaking of security, those guys looked like morons, waiting for Lee and Brookside to attack instead of doing their job, which was to stop them.

Moving on, the first six-man tag team match of the show was solid, with the triple powerbomb being a major highlight. I’m interested to see how the storyline plays out between Santana and Navarro, who will challenge for the X-Division title at Slammiversary after Nic went to bat for him. For those wondering, the current Ultimate X lineup features Leon Slater, Cedric Alexander, Frankie Kazarian, Mr. Elegance, Fabian Aichner, and KC Navarro.

AJ Francis dissing Elijah in the vignette was entertaining.

Like I said, I didn’t enjoy Indi Hartwell vs. Elayna Black.

The six-man tag team main event had some cool moments, like Moose briefly breaking character when his music switched to The Hardys’ theme. The post-match segment between Santana and the Nemeths was okay.

That’s it for tonight, and this writer will be back with more coverage next week.
