Best TNA Wrestling PPV Matches Of 2009

TNA Wrestling put on some critically-acclaimed PPV events in 2009. The promotion presented 12 PPVs between January and December. The pay-per-view action kicked off with Genesis on January 11 and capped off with Final Resolution on December 20.

Many of the matches that took place at the PPVs have sine achieved an all-time classic status with pro wrestling fans. From Kurt Angle’s technical masterclass with Desmond Wolfe to the triple threat at Turning Point, these are some of the best TNA Wrestling PPV matches of 2009.

X-Division Title King of the Mountain Match (TNA Slammiversary)

This match is widely considered as one of the best openers to a TNA PPV event. The bout featured Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Consequences Creed, Jay Lethal, and Suicide. It had some epic spots with a great dose of entertainment.

The Detroit crowd was red hot for the high-stakes match-up. All men involved showcased their potential with some pretty innovative offense at display. Suicide (Frankie Kazarian) retained the X Division Championship.

AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels (Final Resolution)

Nothing can go wrong when these two collide inside the ring. Styles and Christopher Daniels were involved in some of the greatest TNA matches in 2000s. Both men had genuine chemistry that fleshed out whenever they squared off against each other.

Their world title match from Final Resolution had a great build. There was some insane high-flying and solid grabbling. The spots didn’t look out of place. They came to the ring to tell a story and what a great job they did.

Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett (No Disqualification Match – Genesis)

An early Match of the Year contender that ended up being one of the greatest matches in TNA Wrestling history. Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett had some wars back in the day. This one from Genesis is arguably the most violent and intense there is.

Angle entered the match with nothing but blood on his mind. The submission special went berserk with each passing moment. Double J put up a great fight. His expressions and selling made for fantastic visual.

Kurt Angle vs. Desmond Wolfe (Turning Point)

TNA Turning Point 2009 is considered one of the better PPV of 2009. The show had a pretty strong undercard with some good matches, but the final two matches of the night tore the house down.

The penultimate match saw Kurt Angle square off against Desmond Wolfe (Nigel McGuiness) in a technical masterclass. This match is right up there with some of McGuiness’ best work against the likes of Bryan Danielson and Samoa Joe.

AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Samoa Joe (TNA Turning Point)

AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels and Samoa Joe gave TNA Wrestling their first five-star match in 2005. The three men met again at Turning Point 2009 and delivered yet another all-timer. Some fans even say this outing is on the same level as their Unbreakable 2005 encounter.

The chemistry between these three stars was evident from the get-go. Styles wowed the crowd with his aerial prowess. Daniels look flawless with his counters and submissions. Joe looked indestructible with his power moves.

When put together, they created magic.
