Mt. Killamanjaro: TNA Final Resolution Preview – Calling the Swerve!

Kurt Angle, Wes Brisco, Garrett Bischoff & Samoa Joe vs. Four Members of the Aces & Eights

Everyone knows where this match is headed. Wes Brisco and Garrett Bischoff – but more importantly Garrett Bischoff – turn heel and the six members of Aces & Eights beat the snot out of Angle and Joe. It’s simple, and you can spot the angle from a mile away. Garrett and Wes are anything but subtle in their brown-nosing and pandering to Angle’s ego.

To be clear: the predictability does not merit a sudden “swerve” to fool the “marks”. I know it’s coming – everyone knows it’s coming – and it’s one of the reasons I’m going to look forward to that segment. Because no matter what I think of Garrett and Wes, it’s still a positive move for the Aces & Eights. Much like adding a Ho Train to the “club house” was a positive move for the Aces & Eights this week on Impact. And best of all, just like having Bobby Roode finance them in order to go over Jeff Hardy was, and is a postive step for the Aces & Eights.

I’ve been very vocal about my boredom with this angle. After what feels like a whole year of this drama, all we have is the lesser half of a great tag team, a WWE reject (albeit a WWE reject beloved by CM Punk) and now two generational stars who’ve done nothing for nobody. Oh, I almost forgot the icing on the cake: D-Lo could very well be their “in” guy within TNA management. It’s like they’re setting this whole scenario up to be made fun of by the IWC. But like I said, they made some good moves this past week on Impact. They added layers, and gave their goonies a bit of depth by attaching a flock of women.

Positive steps. At this point, any step in any direction is a good one for Aces & Eights. Even the most predictable, mundane avenue like adding a Briscoe and a Bischoff to your underwhelming biker gang, even that is a postive step. So please TNA…just do it. And if by chance you do go with a crazy swerve, for the sake of a crazy swerve, at least make sure I leave Final Resolution with a new piece of the puzzle.

Prediction: Kurt Angle & Samoa Joe via DQ

Austin Aries vs. Bully Ray

Bully Ray is so good, he’s made this angle look somewhat appealing. Bully Ray is so good, he keeps me from changing the channel when Brooke Hogan appears on my TV screen. Let’s be clear, that is a whole new level of talent.

My only question is simple: what happened when Brooke Hogan came out, that Hulk Hogan is suddenly all about letting this match take place? Austin Aries is trying to get in Hogan’s head, and he’s using Brooke’s name to make that happen. Sure Bully Ray might be sleeping with his daughter, but he’s also trying to uphold her honor. After Bound for Glory, Hogan has no reason to hate Bully Ray. He has no reason to keep a match from happening, so why does it take Brooke coming out and using Bully’s real name for the deal to go down in ink?

This is just one of many situations here at Final Resolution that make zero sense to me. I’m hoping that it results in Bully going back to playing the heel, but as Austin Aries currently plays that role, there’s not a single scenario where I could see that working out. TNA got itself in a bind, and I’ll be interested to watch them work their way out of it. If I had to go out on a big limb, I’d say it was actually Brooke that turns heel, and aligns herself with Austin Aries. A swerve worthy of the Hulkster himself.

Prediction: …Austin Aries wins?
