Why Brock Lesnar Should Always Be Called “Mr. SummerSlam”

The last two years, The Undertaker and Randy Orton took on Brock Lesnar in the main event of SummerSlam. Neither were for a championship because Brock Lesnar IS the main event of SummerSlam. The Undertaker match was much better than WrestleMania XXX and it showed that Undertaker still had some left in the tank. It also showed us that, even with The Undertaker’s limitations, Brock Lesnar can carry a match and a feud. I can always remember their backstage fight on RAW leading up to this match. It sparked the fans’ interest and made a rematch go from uninteresting to very intriguing.

Alas, 2016 was when Brock Lesnar destroyed Randy Orton, a future WWE Hall of Famer and one of the purest wrestlers in the game. Elbow shots to the head spilled out the red blood of Randy, leading to a Technical Knock Out. Did it ultimately hurt Orton in the long run? Of course not. It did, however, remind us after a forgettable WrestleMania 32 performance that Brock Lesnar always brings the fight.

The only man to headline as many SummerSlam events in a row as Brock Lesnar is The Rock. With a likely fourth straight main event this year, Brock holds 6 of his 8 appearances in the cherished spot of closing the “Largest Party of the Summer.”

We should really take note on all of these accomplishments that Lesnar has provided in August. The guy, win or lose, is a professional who puts butts in the seats. Hell, he has faced 7 of the best superstars of all-time and each match was memorable. This year, WWE is telling us that Brock Lesnar might be used to get younger guys over even more. I do not hear many people complaining about it, either. Whatever the outcome is, Brock Lesnar should always be considered as “Mr. SummerSlam.”
