#5.) The Rock vs John Cena – WrestleMania 28

Advertised as “Once in a lifetime”, The Rock vs John Cena remains the only main event in WrestleMania history that was announced a full year in advance. It’s weird because the WrestleMania 27 main event was basically used as a setup for the following year. Either way, this match may not make it on the list if we look at it purely from a “match quality” perspective.

But WrestleMania is more than just about that. It’s about moments. It’s about spectacles. And it had been a long time since WWE fans were treated to that caliber of a mega-match. The atmosphere was electric and millions of fans across the world witnessed two faces of WWE go at it in a dream match.

The reaction when The Rock won at the end was deafening, with only a few people knowing that they would do battle again a year later.
