Paul Ellering: ‘Never Say Never’ On Potential Reunion With AOP, We’re Just Biding Our Time

WWE Hall of Famer Paul Ellering recently appeared on UnSKripted with Dr. Chris Featherstone of Sportskeeda. He discussed his time managing the Authors of Pain, his thoughts on the Legion of Doom’s run with WWE and more. Here are some highlights:

On managing the Authors of Pain:

Ellering: “[It was] awesome. You know, Animal and Hawk were so far, as far as being bullies, they were the bulls of the woods, and Rezar and Akam, they were completely the opposite. Just sweethearts. And tremendous athletes. Both have great amateur backgrounds, and Animal and Hawk’s background came from the streets, you know? And so two different apples and oranges, and it was a pleasure to be able to work with AOP. And I look forward to them having their career take off.”

“Triple H, he has William Regal call me up, and William says, ‘We got an idea. If you’d be interested, we’ll fly you down here, and you can check it out.’ And that’s what I did. We sat down and talked, and Triple H was there at that time, and I met the guys. And then we decided to see if this thing works and we went with it and I thought it worked really well for everybody. It was very enjoyable. I enjoyed it, it was fun.”

On potentially reuniting with AOP:

Ellering: “Well, never say never. We just have to see what happens with the business here in the short term and see where we can go from there.”

“They can’t do anything until December [because of the no-compete clause in their WWE contracts] so we’re just biding our time. But I do talk to them.”
