John Cena Recalls His Journey From Homeless To Superstardom

John Cena has done it all over the last two decades, be it in professional wrestling or Hollywood. The 16-time WWE Champion has risen to the greatest heights someone can achieve, but it wasn’t without hardships that were suffered along the way.

Cena recently spoke with Grant Rollings of The Sun to discuss the WWE Superstar’s past that has led him to become the man he is today.

During the interview, John Cena revealed he used to live in his car after moving to Los Angeles to chase his dream of becoming a professional wrestler because his job at the gym didn’t pay him enough to cover having a place to call home:

“I slept in my car for a while, which happened to be a very roomy 1991 Lincoln Town Car,” John Cena revealed. “I had my clothes in the trunk and I slept in the back seat. I’d wake up, use the locker rooms and the shower and repeat the process all over again.”

Few people believed in Cena at the time, and even his own father, John Cena Sr. said it would only be a matter of time before he gave up on his dreams and returned back home to Massachusetts:

“Dad told me I would be home with my tail between my legs in two weeks,” John Cena revealed. “Sure enough, I went through my resources quickly and had to think on my feet. I didn’t want to go home crying.”
