Report: Cain Velasquez Shot At A Man Charged With Molesting His Relative

Cain Velasquez was arrested on February 28 in connection with a shooting in San Jose, and more details about the incident are now available.

NBC Bay Area reported on Monday that Velasquez, a former UFC Heavyweight Champion was under investigation for a shooting that sent someone to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. After this report, TMZ provided an update by reporting that the former WWE Superstar had been arrested and booked for attempted murder.

The arrest was then publicly confirmed by San Jose Police Media Relations:

The Mercury News subsequently reported an update by stating that the arrest came after Velasquez allegedly shot at a man who recently faced accusations of molesting a close relative of his; the defendant’s stepfather was reportedly injured by these shots.

The report continues:

“The accused man, 43-year-old Harry Eugene Goularte, lives at the home that hosts a daycare business run by his mother, according to a criminal complaint that charged Goularte with one felony count of a lewd and lascivious act with a child under the age of 14. Goularte was arraigned Friday, and a judge granted him supervised release, over objections from the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.

“Three days later (February 28), Velasquez allegedly opened fire at a car carrying Goularte, his stepfather, and at least one other person. The stepfather was hit at least once and is expected to survive. Police have not disclosed any information about the shooting beyond basic location details and their formal suspicion of Velasquez as the shooter.”

At this time, Velasquez’s arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
