Report: AEW Game Designer Leaves Yuke’s, Returning To 2K

A new report touts a major shake-up in the world of pro wrestling video games.

WWE 2K22 allowed the WWE video game franchise to bounce back after the abysmal reaction to WWE 2K20 back in 2019. this year’s release, which was available to the public on March 11, was a critical and commercial success, garnering massive praise from Stephanie McMahon during a recent WWE financial earnings call.

Now, a new report from Mike Straw of Sports Gamers Online claims that Bryan Williams, who was most recently working for Yuke’s on the All Elite Wrestling video game, is returning to 2K to work on the future of WWE video games. In the past, Bryan was the senior game designer on the WWE series when the franchise was still handled by the partnership between Yuke’s and THQ. Williams was heavily involved in the development of the Creation Suite during his time with the company.

According to the report, it is not clear what role Williams will have in the future of the WWE video games but he is slated to be back at work with the franchise later this month. It’s also stated that even though there will be another mainline game coming from WWE and 2K, it does not mean that a long-term deal was agreed to between both entities.
