Britt Baker: Owen Hart Tournament Win Is One Of My Favorite Pages Of The History Books I’m In

Dr. Britt Baker made history once again last night at All Elite Wrestling’s Double Or Nothing.

Competing in the finals of the inaugural Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament, Britt Baker fought hard against Ruby Soho. The D.M.D. then emerged victorious, becoming the first-ever winner of the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament. In speaking with FITE TV, Baker described her emotions after winning:

“This is so surreal. It’s like I was saying in another interview, that I’ve been a lot of firsts when it comes to All Elite Wrestling but this one is just so different and so special. This one, really, genuinely, tugs on my heartstrings and just to be a part of this whole night and whole moment, is something I’ll never forget. It’s something that our fans surely will not forget. All of wrestling which is not going to forget this,” Baker explained.

“But, to have this first-ever belt, it’s so cool. You can’t but think ‘man, do I deserve this?’ but then, you do. I do deserve this,” she continued. “I work really freakin’ hard, and I’m just so proud. Proud of the match I just had. Ruby, I don’t want to lock up with her anytime soon, she’s one of the toughest opponents out there. I thought she had me a couple times, but she didn’t. And just the night in general, to be out there next to Dr. Martha, like come on, this is surreal, super surreal. ”

Britt Baker wasn’t the only one to make history last night, though. Baker’s real-life boyfriend, Adam Cole, won the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament after defeating Samoa Joe. Baker went on to describe sharing that history-making moment with Adam Cole:

“It’s like a ‘pinch me’ moment because I just won this tournament, which is such a special–we keep saying the word special but there is no other word to describe the night–it’s just special. And then, I have the love of my life, my best friend out there with me and I get to share this moment with him and we have these [belts] forever now. And we were the first-ever, and it’s something we can tell our families, our kids, forever ever and ever. Like I said, that’s one of my favorite pages of the history books that I’m in right now.”
