The latest in the MJF-AEW situation sees the relationship between Maxwell and the company appear to become even more strained. However, MJF may be getting what he asked for on the June 1 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been a valuable part of AEW television for as long as the company has been in existence. Seen as one of the pillar young performers in the company, Max has had the privilege of having rivalries with CM Punk, Chris Jericho, and more and has held his own with every legend he has worked with.
During the weekend of Double or Nothing 2022, the relationship between Maxwell and AEW reached a new level of tension as MJF reportedly missed a meet and greet he was scheduled for on Saturday, May 28. Ultimately, despite reports of Maxwell being booked for a red-eye flight out of Las Vegas, Max did make his scheduled appearance against Wardlow, losing to his former bodyguard on Sunday, May 29.

The next Wednesday, June 1, 2022, Maxwell would unleash his frustrations during a promo segment. Maxwell, in a profanity-laced promo, complained about his lack of pay increase despite his value to the company and openly stated that he wanted to be fired before calling Tony Khan a “fucking mark” as his microphone was being cut off.
Now, Maxwell has been taken off of the company’s roster page and no longer has his merchandise featured on their website. Also, the clip of his promo was not uploaded to YouTube following Dynamite, as is tradition.
When asked for comment on the post-show media scrum following double or nothing, Tony Khan declined to comment on his issues with Max Friedman.
