Dirty Dango Is Having Knee Surgery This Summer, Clarifies Recent ‘Stepping Away’ Tweet

Despite what you might have heard, Dirty Dango doesn’t plan on retiring from the world of professional wrestling anytime soon.

Dirty Dango, aka the artist formerly known as Fandango, recently sat down with the Dropkick Podcast to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about a tweet from a few months back where he teased retirement, Dango admitted that he just wanted to get rid of Twitter.

“I’ll be stepping away from the ring in couple months. Goodbye forever,” Dirty Dango wrote in a now-deleted post.

Despite how the tweet was perceived, Dirty Dango says he’s not planning on retiring but instead pans to have surgery on his knee this summer and take some time off.

“Yeah, so this is actually the first time I’ve ever really spoken about that publicly,” Dirty Dango began. “First of all, I just wanted to get rid of Twitter in general. It’s a very negative platform. It’s kind of my own fault for just reading the comments. It’s good if you want to build your brand. I do construction back home, so I’m kind of putting a lot more energy into that lately, but I’m getting surgery this summer on my knee.

“I never really said I was retiring. I said I was going to step away for a little while, but of course, the dirt sheets picked it up and said that I was. I kind of get a kick out of it. But yeah, I’m gonna get surgery on my knee. It’s been bothering me for about a year now and then kind of reevaluate this summer,” he noted, “but I’m gonna take the summer off and spend it with my girl, my dogs and see where we’re at, man. Wrestlings not going anywhere.”

Dirty Dango sat down with WrestleZone’s own Colin Tessier last year to discuss his new character and leaving the former traits of Fandango in the past. You can check out that interview by clicking here.
