Drew McIntyre will do whatever it takes to have a singles match against John Cena in WWE.

Speaking on ‘The Bump‘ this past week, McIntyre was asked to speak about John Cena as he makes his return to WWE for his 20th anniversary on June 27.

McIntyre said, “I’ve called him out a few times, he hasn’t reciprocated and that’s okay. I said I don’t need any help. so I’ll keep working forward, make things happen on my own. But if John and I end up in a ring together one day for one last match. That is one singles match I’ve never had. I’ll work and try and make it happen.”

McIntyre and Cena had a full-time WWE run that overlapped about 5 years but never had a one on one match. When speaking about what John Cena means to him and his career, Drew said “I’d ask myself, what would Cena do? He’d work his butt off 24/7. He wasn’t fortunate enough to get the opportunities he got, he made that happen, and then he was rewarded for his hard work. And I really took on that Cena style work ethic. I do it to this day.”

Despite never having a singles match, the pair have shared the WWE ring before. In fact, on January 7, 2019 on RAW. Cena teamed with Finn Balor and Seth Rollins to wrestle against McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, and Dean Ambrose.
