Kevin Nash Reflects On Tearing His Quad On WWE RAW In 2002: ‘It Felt Like A Shotgun’

It’s been 20 years since Kevin Nash walked across the ring on Monday Night RAW and tore his quad during an eight-man tag team match.

On the latest episode of Kliq This, Kevin Nash openly discussed the infamous torn quad on WWE RAW back in 2002. The WWE Hall of Famer described the injury as a shotgun going off in his leg.

“It felt like a shotgun,” Kevin Nash recalled. “It felt like somebody — I mean anybody that’s ever torn ACL magnify that times — your ACL is like that, you can feel it go *makes ripping noises* as you’re going down, you can just feel it rip. And then I went down, and Bubba [Ray Dudley] was really cool because Bubba bent over me and he was talking to me, and I said, ‘I think it’s my f-cking knee,’ and I’m putting on it right there to see if it’s snug. Like it’s not that movement when you tear your ACL. So Bubba comes over, and I say brother, so he’s like, ‘Stay where you’re at,’ and he just kind of lays down and just makes sure that nobody hits me. Yeah, he’s just making sure nobody hits me ’cause he knows I’m hurt.”

Kevin Nash wasn’t wearing a brace on his left knee when the injury occurred. But he also surprisingly revealed that he wasn’t actually medically cleared to compete in this match to begin with, as he had torn his bicep prior.

“I wasn’t medically cleared because I tore my bicep, so I wasn’t medically cleared for this,” Kevin Nash revealed. “They Delta Dash [Delta’s flight-specific same-day, small package express service] my gear. Disco [Inferno] went to my house and was kind enough to get my gear but grabbed one of the wrong braces, and it was the wrong brace for the left knee.”
