KiLynn King On Competing In The NWA Burke Invitational: I’m Not Going To Waste This Opportunity

KiLynn King has her sights set on The Burke heading into NWA 74.

Since making her return to the NWA earlier this year, KiLynn King has quickly climbed up through the ranks. At Alwayz Ready in June, King challenged reigning champion Kamille for the NWA Women’s Championship. Although she fell short in her efforts, King is rejuvenated and poised to finally capture the gold.

On August 27th, King will compete in the Burke Invitational on night one of NWA 74 and she enters with hopes of earning a title shot the following night. The same night, Kamille will also defend her title against Taya Valkyrie in the main event. Whoever walks out as champion will go on to defend their gold against the winner of the Burke Invitational match.

In speaking with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard, “The Mother Effing King” opened up about her current run in the National Wrestling Alliance and competing in the upcoming Burke Invitational.

“The last time I stepped in the ring with Kamille [at Alwayz Ready], it came very close to me becoming the new champion. So I’m definitely keeping my eye on that, trying to stay in the picture when it comes to another title opportunity,” KiLynn explained. “Thankfully, I was given this opportunity to do the Burke Invitational. So that’s just another sign that it’s meant to happen again. I think the next time that I step in the ring, I’m going to be way more prepared, whether it’s Kamille or Taya [Valkyrie].”

“So I think it would be kind of sweet for it to be Kamille just because I lost focus last time on her,” she continued. “And this time I want to make sure I do it right. But, ever since I showed up at the NWA, they’ve put a lot of faith in me and given me a lot of incredible opportunities. So, I’m not going to waste this opportunity with the Burke Invitational. I’m going to come with a game plan, I’m going to come in a little bit smarter this time, as opposed to just taking my eye off the ball like I did last time. I’m going to stay very, very focused for this match. I want another shot of that at that title.”

Ten competitors will compete in the 2022 Burke Invitational, including former IMPACT Knockouts Champions, Angelina Love and Taryn Terrell. KiLynn King continued on to name some competitors she’d like to step up to.

“Angelina Love is somebody I would like to find myself against,” King admitted. She’s an incredible veteran. I’m always about stepping in the room with people I know I’m going to learn from. Well, the goal is to get there and to win the Burke. At the same time, I always want to be learning and step in there with people who are really going to challenge me mentally and physically in there. I think that she’s one of those people who could absolutely do that.”

“Max [The Impaler] would definitely be an incredible challenge [as well],” she went on. “It would definitely be something I could pat myself on the back if I could handle that situation, because that is a whole nother beast. I think those are two people. I do have a lot of history with Jennacide, but in regards to people I haven’t worked before that I would like to hopefully find myself in there with maybe, maybe those two.”

NWA 74 will air its two-night pay-per-view event on FITE TV, beginning on Saturday, August 27th. Night two will air the following night on Sunday, August 28th.
