Cody Deaner Shares The Biggest Lesson He’s Learned Working With Eric Young At IMPACT

Cody Deaner has learned a tremendous amount working alongside Eric Young in IMPACT Wrestling.

Violent By Design’s Cody Deaner recently sat down with VL-Media to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about what it’s been like to work alongside Eric Young for the last two years, Deaner had high praise for Young and how much he’s learned from him.

“I’ve learned a tremendous amount alongside Eric Young throughout my career,” Cody Deaner said. “Some people don’t know this, but Eric Young was present at my very first wrestling practice. It was 22 years ago. We are very close in life. We were traveling together when we were struggling to make a name for ourselves outside of the Canadian independent scene. At that time, we already wanted to be signed in a bigger promotion like IMPACT Wrestling. We encouraged each other and each learned from the other.

“He’s always been there for me since I started. That’s why my transition to Violent by Design was so easy. The most important thing I was able to learn from him was transforming his character and the fans’ perception of him. He knew how to go from this comic character to this character taken seriously and worthy of a world title. I was in a situation similar to his, because the fans only saw me in a certain way. By following his advice, I knew how to adapt and transform myself to show the fans that I was more than a funny wrestler.”

Violent by Design is currently in a recruiting phase. When asked if Jake Something could possibly return and be part of the faction, Deaner teased that it might be possible and you’ll just have to wait and see for yourself.

“Let me use a catchphrase in wrestling: never say never. Could Jake Something join Violent by Design? Maybe,” Cody Deaner teased. “Are we going to recruit new members to reinforce what we are currently doing, with this “Revival of Violence”? Why not. The nice thing about what’s happening right now is that you want to know what’s coming. Fans have a lot of questions on their minds seeing what’s going on right now with Violent by Design. I have the answers to these questions. Eric Young has them too. I won’t tell you anything for the moment. You will have to wait and see for yourself.”

When asked what to expect from Violent by Design at Bound For Glory, Deaner teased at least one surprise for Friday’s pay-per-view.

“What you can expect from us is kind of the same expectations you can have for Impact Wrestling,” Cody Deaner said. “Granted, I’m biased, but I honestly believe I’m part of the best wrestling promotion in the world. Impact Wrestling consistently delivers the best pay-per-views. If you’ve never seen an Impact pay-per-view, you absolutely must watch Bound for Glory this Friday on Fite TV. I say this after every pay-per-view or after every special show on Impact+: no wrestling promotion does pay-per-view like Impact Wrestling. I can guarantee you that there will be at least one surprise, if not two or three, this Friday.”
