The Rock Officially Rules Out Running For President Of The United States

The Rock says his Presidential aspirations are no longer on the table.

During a new interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Dwayne Johnson said he will not be running for office, explaining that he wants to prioritize being a parent and playing an active role in his daughters’ lives.

“It’s off the table. Yes. It is off the table. I will say this because it requires a B-side to this. I love our country and everyone in it. I also love being a daddy. And that’s the most important thing to me is being a daddy, number one, especially during this time, this critical time in my daughters’ lives. I know what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was absent for a lot of years in my first daughter [Simone]’s [life]. Growing up in this critical age at this critical time in their life, and that’s what the presidency will do. So my number one priority is my daughters. Sure, CEO sounds great. But the number one thing I wanna be is daddy. That’s it.”

Johnson expressed interest in a potential political career several years ago, noting at the time that he’d “100% consider” a run at the Oval Office. The subject was debated enough that it became part of the plot of his Young Rock television series, but The Rock has finally… put the speculation to rest.

The Rock is currently doing media appearances for his newest film, Black Adamin theatres on October 21.
