During the October 10, 2022 episode of WWE Raw, a new WWE United States Champion was crowned, with Seth Rollins capitalizing on the return of Brock Lesnar to win the belt.
Following Brock Lesnar’s shocking return to the WWE and his subsequent assault on Bobby Lashley, Rollins quickly stormed down to the ring. In an injured state himself from his Fight Pit Match against Riddle at Extreme Rules, Rollins called out Lashley for a match. He said Lashley said he was a fighting champion, before saying that he was supposed to be a soldier, but instead was acting like a disgrace to the title and his country.
This was more than enough to get Lashley to step into the ring, and call for a match. Unfortunately for Lashley, though, his injuries were simply too much to overcome. Rollins ended up winning the belt after delivering a series of moves to the champion, including a pedigree, frog splash, and multiple Stomps to finally earn him the title.
