Taya Valkyrie: I’m Having Fun Wrestling Everywhere, But My Goal Is To Sign With A Company Full-Time

Taya Valkyrie is one of the most buzzworthy free agents in the wrestling world, and she says her goal is to sign with a company full-time.

Valkyrie rose to international stardom with Lucha Libre AAA, Lucha Underground, and IMPACT Wrestling before she signed with WWE in February 2021. She debuted on NXT in April, but her WWE run was cut short when the company released her in a wave of cuts in November. Since then, Valkyrie has been competing for AAA, IMPACT, NWA, and MLW, among other promotions. She currently holds multiple titles, including the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship and the MLW World Women’s Featherweight Championship.

Speaking with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Valkyrie was asked whether she’ll ever fully commit to another company full-time again. She stated that she’s having a lot of fun competing for multiple promotions and travelling the world, but her long-term goal is to sign somewhere full time. Valkyrie made it clear that she wants to be able to wrestle, have a creative storyline, and feel supported.

“I’ve been having so much fun getting to know these companies and wrestling everywhere,” Valkyrie said. “Just playing around and living my life. It has been incredible to have places like Impact, NWA, AAA, and MLW that have allowed me to do this and stretch my wings.

“The long-term plan would be to sign somewhere full-time and see where that takes me. I think it’s something I’m looking to in the new year. I just want to be somewhere that makes me happy where I can wrestle, have a very creative storyline, and where feel an honest amount of support. We’ll see what happens.”

When asked whether she’d be interested in returning to WWE if the company approached her, she noted that you can never say never in the wrestling world, and she highlighted some of the recent changes within the company.

“I feel like the energy even watching the product is completely different,” Valkyrie said. “I know how much Triple H cares about pro wrestling. I’m sad I never really got the opportunity to have a lot of work time with him. I didn’t get to pick his brain like I wish I had under the circumstances. It’s really great to see my friends thriving and some people who really deserving of a second chance getting that. You never know. Never say never. The world is so crazy. If you told me last year that this would be my life now, I wouldn’t have believed you.”

Valkyrie will defend her AAA Reina de Reinas Championship against Kamille at AAA TripleMania XXX: Mexico City on October 15.
