Chelsea Green: Fans Are Ready For A New Champion, NWA Hard Times Is My Opportunity To Win The Title

Chelsea Green is ready to be the next NWA Women’s Champion.

WrestleZone recently spoke with Chelsea Green, who is one of the two women (along with KiLynn King) challenging Kamille for the NWA Women’s Championship at Hard Times 3. Green inserted herself into the match by cashing in on her Champions Series title shot, and she says it’s all about opportunity.

“I feel great because this isn’t my first triple threat match on a pay-per-view for NWA. The last time I wrestled for the title was versus Kamille and Kylie Rae, and I did not get pinned. I’ve wrestled Kamille a couple times, I’ve also had matches with KiLynn. I feel like this is my opportunity to win the title,” Green stated. “I really, really do. I feel I should have won the title during the first match versus Kamille in St. Louis after Empowerrr. I had a singles match versus her on NWA pay-per-view, and I really feel like I took her to the limit and could’ve taken that title off of her, and I’ve grown a lot since then. It’s been over a year. I’m ready for that opportunity again, and I think that the people are ready to see a different champion.”

Green has also made regular appearances on IMPACT Wrestling this year, working with Gisele Shaw as an ally until last week. Gisele “broke up” with Green and Deonna Purrazzo, but Green feels like they works best as a duo.

“Here’s the thing, Deonna and I have had such a long friendship, and we’re not just friends in wrestling, right? Like we built a friendship that is far beyond wrestling. She was one of my bridesmaids in my wedding, I’m one of hers,” Green noted, “and so I think we work better just the two of us. I don’t think we need a third member.”

Green’s alliance with Purrazzo as VXT is one of two storylines she got to revisit in the past year, as she also feuded with Mickie James. Asked if there was one that she is happier about getting to rekindle, Green always viewed them separately but is happy to have the opportunity.

“Gosh, that’s a really good question because I’ve never thought of it because they’re just so separate. We started the Mickie storyline just as I was coming out of—basically, that was my first storyline after WWE other than teaming up with my husband. So that was something that I really, really felt passionate about doing, especially having my background and being the Hot Mess and having similar characteristics to Mickie James. So I was really excited to get started on that, but then I did not realize that we would ever come back to that. In my mind, when I beat her months ago, and she went into what I thought was a retirement, I left that storyline behind,” Green explained.

“And when you leave the storyline behind, it’s kinda like what an actress does in a movie when they finish filming. They close the book, maybe they watch it one more time, and then that’s it, and they move on to their next thing. And the next thing I was handed was this VXT package that I’ve also waited so long too, and I knew it would work. I absolutely knew it would work, but I waited too long to sink my teeth into that too. So it’s honestly a little confusing to me to be balancing both. And like I think you do see the struggle when I’m out there wrestling. My feud with Mickie James has never been intertwined with my relationship and my tag team with Deonna. So I’m really trying to find a balance and figure out,” Green stated. “I don’t know what I like better because they’re so separate to me if that makes sense.”
