Brian Kendrick Was Brought In For WWE Survivor Series At The Request Of Ronda Rousey

Brian Kendrick was brought back at Survivor Series at the request of one of his most famous trainees.

Earlier this week, Fightful reported that Brian Kendrick was backstage working as a producer during the WWE Survivor Series event. On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio (viaF4WOnline.com), Dave Meltzer shared more details on Kendrick’s status with the company.

According to Meltzer, Kendrick was brought in to produce a match at the request of Ronda Rousey, who Kendrick initially trained as a pro wrestler. It was noted that she asked if he could help out with her SmackDown Women’s Championship match against Shotzi, but Kendrick was not rehired by WWE.

“What happened was, Ronda Rousey — Brian Kendrick was Ronda Rousey’s original wrestling trainer. And she suggested, she asked for him to be brought in for her match with Shotzi. So he was in on Saturday. And it was not a hire. You could say it was a tryout, I wouldn’t say it wasn’t a tryout,” Meltzer explained, “but it really wasn’t like a normal tryout. It was more Ronda Rousey asked for him to help produce. Jason Jordan also produced it, but she asked for Brian to be brought in, so they brought him in.”

Along with Kendrick, Jason Jordan was listed as the other producer of the match on an internal run sheet. Meltzer noted that Kendrick was not hired back, but that “obviously could change.”

Kendrick was working as an agent in NXT before he was released earlier this year. Following his WWE departure, Kendrick was set to debut with All Elite Wrestling in an advertised match against Jon Moxley, but the match was pulled after past comments he made about the Holocaust and the Sandy Hook school shooting resurfaced online.

Kendrick posted a statement on Twitter after he was pulled from the AEW match and apologized for the comments.

“I apologize for all the hurt and embarassment I have caused with my words. These are not my beliefs and never were beliefs of mine, and I crossed the line.

I spread the most vile comments without thinking of the damage it would cause. I will live with this regret for the rest of my life. I am truly sorry for the pain I have caused.”
