As announced on the December 20 episode, Tony D’Angelo will challenge for the gold. “The Don of NXT” has had Lee in his sights since he suffered a leg injury in a match against Lee on the September 27 episode of NXT. The contest had been a qualifying match for the North American Championship Ladder Match at NXT Halloween Havoc. Lee went on to win that match, and D’Angelo targeted Lee upon his return. In his first match back, he defeated Xyon Quinn on the December 6 episode of NXT.
Plus, Fallon Henley will face Kiana James in a high-stakes match. The two women have been feuding for weeks, and their rivalry will come to a head next Tuesday. On the December 20 episode, James noted that she paid off the debuts Henley’s family owed on their bar. Henley responded by challenging her to a match; with a win, Henley will ensure her family’s financial freedom of any obligation to James. But James will get the bar at “pennies on the dollar” if she beats Henley.
Additionally, Cora Jade and Wendy Choo will continue their feud in a heated singles match, and Julius Creed will return to action in a singles match against JD McDonagh, the man who injured him in the first place. Plus, Schism (Joe Gacy, Jagger Reid, and Rip Fowler) will face Edris Enofe, Malik Blade, and Odyssey Jones after the two teams crossed paths on the December 20 episode.
Elsewhere on the show, Drew Gulak will host a seminar, and he invited Hank Walker to attend.
