Hyan Reveals Goal To Return To Japan, Wrestle In NJPW

Hyan plans to continue her global takeover.

“The Renaissance Woman” has grown a lengthy resume in the world of professional wrestling. Last year alone, Hyan graced the stages of All Elite Wrestling, IMPACT, and many notable indies. In February, she returned to the United Kingdom. Two months later, she claimed the crown at ROW’s Sherri Martel Classic. Overall, 2022 marked the year of Hyan, as the Texas native snatched up three championships, and remains one of wrestling’s hottest free agents. Hyan isn’t settling for complacency, though.

In a recent interview PWMania, the ROW Diamonds Division Champion revealed her aim to return to a place of familiarity, but with a slightly different view. “When I was there the first time, it was about three months,” Hyan recalled her first stint in Japan. “I had the pleasure of being fully immersed in the country, culture, and just seeing wrestling from the Japanese perspective.”

In 2019, Hyan received the chance to travel abroad, competing in some of Japan’s top promotions. During the three-month period, she encountered a “very unique experience” learning the Japanese style of the sport, putting in her rounds at Marvelous, Sendai Girls, and WAVE. There, Hyan even got to share the ring with legendary performer Meiko Satomura. Looking forward, now, she hopes to soon land in Japan’s biggest company, New Japan Pro Wrestling.

“New Japan is the style of wrestling that I love,” she said. “I never thought it would be a possibility because for so long they only booked men. The door of being a woman and wrestling for New Japan hadn’t been opened until about six months or so ago. They’re starting to use women on New Japan Strong in America. That is my ultimate goal right now.”
