Powerhouse Hobbs Compares Recent AEW Match To A Pot Of Gumbo

Powerhouse Hobbs is reaching new heights right now as a champion in All Elite Wrestling.

AEW TNT Champion Powerhouse Hobbs was a recent guest on Instinct Culture by Denise Salcedo to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked what it was like to compete in the Face of the Revolution ladder match, Hobbs compared the match to a pot of gumbo.

“I think that match was like a pot of gumbo. You got all different types of flavors, and all those guys are great athletes, and they all brought something different to the table that night,” Powerhouse Hobbs said. “So it’s just — there’s a point where I think I got dove on or something, and I’m laying down trying to collect myself, and I see someone, I think it might have been AR Fox doing some type of flip.

“And I’m like, how was that possible? Because I haven’t seen anyone do stuff like that since, like NBA Jam, when the guy is going up to dunk, and he twirls around, and his shoes are on fire, so it’s just wild. Everyone brought it that night and obviously, I was the last man standing, so I brought a little bit extra, especially being from the bay.”

When asked about the reaction from the live crowd reacting the way they did, Hobbs admitted he had never felt energy like that and could only compare it to competing at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

“Yeah, man. I’ve never felt energy like that,” Powerhouse Hobbs admitted. “I’ve wrestled at Arthur Ashe Stadium. It was 20,000 plus people, and that night at the Cow Palace felt very close to that.”
