Jay White Not Expected To Sign With WWE

Jay White is one of the most buzzworthy free agents in the wrestling world, and according to a new report, it doesn’t appear that he’s bound for WWE.

The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion and Bullet Club member lost a Loser Leaves Japan match in February, and he then came up short in a Loser Leaves NJPW bout against Eddie Kingston at NJPW Battle in the Valley.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that there was “absolutely no discussion” of White within WWE over the weekend of WWE WrestleMania 39. The report notes that, following multiple conversations with WWE officials and talent, it does not seem like White is WWE-bound.

In February, Fightful Select reported that White was set to NJPW talent believed that White’s contract was set to expire between NJPW Battle in the Valley and WWE WrestleMania 39. WWE sources at the time confirmed the company’s long-running interest in him, but few other details were available. The report noted that NJPW sources indicated that they would love to keep White, and he has made positive relationships with AEW and IMPACT Wrestling through his work there.

The report comes following the news that WWE and UFC will form a new company as part of an agreement that will see Endeavor acquire WWE; the move was announced on April 3. Mike Johnson of PWInsider subsequently reported that Vince McMahon was “firmly back in charge” of the first episode of WWE RAW following the news of the merger.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
