Trinity Confirms She Had Shoulder Surgery, Wrestled For A Year With a Torn Labrum

Not only did Trinity have shoulder surgery following her WWE departure, but she also wrestled for a year with a torn labrum.

IMPACT Wrestling‘s Trinity was a recent guest on Busted Open Radio with Dave LaGreca, Tommy Dreamer, and Mickie James. When asked about her time away from professional wrestling, Trinity revealed that she wrestled in WWE for a year with a torn labrum and it wasn’t until after her departure that she finally decided to get the surgery to fix it.

“Yeah, it’s the entire experience. I feel like I’m still processing it all because it all happened so fast,” Trinity admitted. “Knowing that I was coming, it was just all the worrying of what if they don’t care anymore? What are they don’t like me? What if I don’t do well? I was so scared and like Tommy was saying just so much doubt because I hadn’t been in the ring in about a year, like 11, 12 months.

“I don’t remember what my last match was like in May, maybe, I think? And then I also had what people don’t know; I worked with a torn labrum for over a year. So I just kept wrestling with that. I didn’t talk about it; I didn’t say anything because you don’t want to look weak. You don’t want to look like there’s a problem. You don’t want to be taken off TV. You don’t want none of that. I wanted to keep working, so I continued to work with a shoulder injury, and that was also affecting me, didn’t feel good.

“So when I got the time out, the first thing I did was go get my shoulder fixed, had shoulder surgery. So months off like that, not being able to work. Just having literally all of it gone. At one point, I was like yeah, I’m done. Like, I don’t even think I’ll probably wrestle ever again. But you know, just working through it all with myself mentally, having a great support system, and just seeing like the fans still like we want you back, we need to see you. How are you doing? Just the support and my family. I got back to where I needed to be.

“Got through the injury, got through the surgery. So yeah, all of that was just a lot mentally, and then also being just off the road after that’s all I’ve known for the last 13 to 14 years; that’s been my life being with my husband every day, traveling every day. And then all of a sudden, just sitting home alone by myself and all of it to sort through myself. It was a lot, but I feel that it’s made me stronger, better mentally, physically. I feel great.

“Physically, I feel better and just having that time to really miss wrestling. Really missed the business, really missed the job. I was like, ‘Oh no, this ain’t it. I can’t go out like this. We have to run this back one more time.’ It was probably the scariest time of my life, just being unsure of myself, my future, the first time I’d been unemployed since I was like 16 years old. All of it. But yeah, I think it’s made me better and want to go after this job and this career and this business even harder.”
