Chris Jericho On Potential Match With Sting: It’ll Never Happen, Not Interested

Chris Jericho says he isn’t interested in having a match with Sting.

In a tweet, Jericho responded to a fan who noted that they hoped there was still time for a potential clash between the former AEW World Champion and “The Icon.” Jericho briefly wrote, “It’ll never happen. Not interested.”

Jericho and Sting both worked for WCW before Jericho left for WWE in 1999. They have been on the same roster in AEW since 2020, when Sting made his debut on the “Winter is Coming” edition of AEW Dynamite.

Update: Jericho previously said that there “has to be” a match between him and Sting. In an interview in September 2022, he stated that the bout would be a great time for his Painmaker character.

“Whenever there’s a Sting/Jericho match, which there has to be,” Jericho said. “Sting and I have never been in the ring together ever, except for when Keith Mitchell retired and we had that after-ceremony,” Chris Jericho revealed. “Never been in the same ring ever, ever, ever, ever! There has to be a Sting/Jericho match in whatever way we decide to do it, and that would be a great time for Painmaker.”
