Austin Theory Comments On Losing The WWE United States Title, Calls It A Restart

Austin Theory is ready for a restart after he lost the WWE United States Championship.

Rey Mysterio defeated Theory in an impromptu match to win the gold on the August 11 episode of WWE SmackDown.

Speaking on WWE After The Bell with Corey Graves & Kevin Patrick, Theory shared his thouughts about his loss.

“It’s been a journey. It’s been a big journey,” Austin Theory said. “But look at that whole situation. Look at all the wins and all the time that I had as the United States Champion. I could have taken a break Friday and not faced Santos Escobar, but I was ready. I was up there, ready for the challenge, and look what happened. We get Rey Mysterio. What’s up with that?”

Kevin Patrick noted that Theory is the one who took out Escobar’s knee ahead of the match. Theory responded by stating that he is often hurt, but he doesn’t let that stop him.

“Hey, that’s the man that was supposed to face me, and it’s my problem that his knee hurts? How many times do you think my knees hurt? My elbows hurt, my shoulders hurt? My lower back. But look what I did,” Austin Theory said. “I beat John Cena, I beat Edge, I beat Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins. I’m prepared for these things, but when you do stuff like that, to me, that’s disrespectful, Adam Pearce making random matches.

“Especially against Rey Mysterio, somebody that I’ve already beaten. Most people, they would have stepped aside and they would have took a break. But I stepped up to the challenge, but I was not prepared for that challenge, but I can own that. But going forward, this is definitely gonna get dealt with.”

Austin Theory Calls Losing The Title A Restart

Ausitn Theory went on to call losing the title a restart. He noted that, moving forward, he could target any title he chooses to. Theory also teased a potential showdown with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.

“It’s exciting because it’s a restart. Having all the achievements and the skills and the accolades that I do have, now I get to use these going forward,” Theory said. “Like I said, if I want to become a three-time United States Champion or go after the Universal Championship, and then there’s the new World Heavyweight Championship that Seth Rollins has, and I’m no stranger to Seth Rollins.”

John Cena previously reflected on working with Austin Theory ahead of their match at WrestleMania 39. Check out his comments here.
