Terry Funk Passes Away At Age 79

WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk has passed away at the age of 79.

Flair first shared the news in a tweet on August 23, as he noted that Funk was a great wrestler, entertainer, and friend. Flair stated that no one will replace Funk.

Mick Foley then commented on the news and confirmed Funk’s passing. He wrote that he spoke with Funk’s daughter, Brandee, who informed him that the legend had passed away. Foley stated that Funk, his mentor and his idol, was the greatest wrestler he had ever seen.

Foley also encouraged everyone to watch a Terry Funk match or promo. He stated that there will never be another like him. Foley wished Funk and his family well, and he wrote that it was an honor to know him.

Funk is widely viewed as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, and he had a lengthy career that dates back to 1965. He remained active until 2017, and he wrestled all over the world. Funk held the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, the WWF World Tag Team Championship, and the ECW World Television Championship, among many others.

Throughout his career, Funk wrestled for All Japan Pro Wrestling, ECW, WWE, WCW, and Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling. He is considered to be one of the most influential hardcore wrestlers of all time. Funk was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009.
