Gable Steveson Withdraws From 2023 World Championships

Gable Steveson will no longer compete in the 2023 World Championships in freestyle wrestling.

USA Wrestling announced that Gable Steveson has withdrawn from the 2023 Senior World Championships. He will be replaced by Mason Parris in the tournament, which will be held in Serbia from September 16 to September 24.

Steveson, a 2020 Olympic gold medalist, made his return to freestyle wrestling in April. He won the 2023 U.S. Open, and he went on to clinch a spot in the World Championships with his victory at Final X in June.

During his collegiate career with the University of Minnesota, Steveson was a two-time NCAA National Champion and a two-time Dan Hodge Trophy winner. He signed a Next In Line (NIL deal) with WWE in September 2021. Steveson appeared at WrestleMania 38 in April 22, and he made another appearance on SmackDown in December.

Earlier in 2023, Steveson started feuding with Baron Corbin on NXT. He made his in-ring debut at NXT Great American Bash, where his match with Corbin ended in a double count-out.

There is no word on the timeline for Gable Steveson’s return to WWE.

WrestleZone will monitor the situation and provide more information as it becomes available.
