Steve Maclin says that his match with Josh Alexander at IMPACT Victory Road is the biggest match on the card.
Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Maclin previewed his match against Alexander.
“It’s one of those things where, kind of also stepping back a little bit to see the landscape, with guy like EY coming in, a guy like Josh Alexander coming back,” Maclin said. “He’s my opponent at Victory Road, and a match that I feel everybody’s been wanting to see.
“That’s the match I’ve been wanting because that was supposed to be the match I was supposed to win the title at, at Rebellion. I was gonna beat the longest-reigning IMPACT World Champion in history. I get to do that here at Victory Road. “
Maclin also described how he thinks the match is the biggest one on the card for IMPACT Victory Road. He stated that he and Alexander are the top guys on the roster.
“It’s one of those things where I think, even when it was supposed to happen at Rebellion, we kind of knew what we were getting into. It‘s a program that I’m looking forward to, for however long it does last,” Steve Maclin said. “But for me, the way I feel, and I’m pretty sure Josh feels the same way, we are the two guys in IMPACT Wrestling.
“If you look at the male side of things, it’s me and Josh. We’re the top two names. That’s also my opinion because I feel like I’ve worked to that. Title or not in this match, I think this is the biggest match on the card. I think this is one of the biggest matches of the year for IMPACT Wrestling. That also puts a lot of pressure on me to deliver. Same with Josh.”
Steve Maclin Highlights Non-Title Matches At Victory Road
Steve Maclin also pointed to the match between Deonna Purrazzo and Jordynne Grace as another major match on the card. He stated that the non-title matches will play a big part in the road to Bound For Glory and beyond.
“Then you can look on the women’s side,” Steve Maclin said. “You have my wife [Deonna Purrazzo] and Jordynne, no title involved with those two. That’s another one of those matches where you’re getting this card where there’s titles on the line in all the matches. But the matches that to me are key on this card at Victory Road are the ones that don’t even involve the titles.
“It’s showing the landscape and what’s gonna happen for Bound For Glory, and what’s gonna go on for the rest of the year into Hard To Kill.”
