Eric Bischoff Highlights One Big Reason Bret Hart ‘Missed’ In WCW

Eric Bischoff believes not giving Bret Hart an identifiable soundtrack in WCW was a huge miss on his part.

Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, the former WCW President blamed the lack of a standout theme song for the “Hitman” for his underwhelming stint in Ted Turner’s promotion.

“Huge miss on my part. You asked the question, ‘How important is it?’ It’s critical. It sets the tone,” Bischoff said. “I mean, how many great movies can you recall that didn’t have an identifiable soundtrack with it? To this day, every time I hear ‘Danger Zone,’ I’m thinking back to ‘Top Gun,’ the first one. It’s such an important part of a character.”

Bischoff is of the opinion that theme music is crucial to the success of up-and-comers in the wrestling business as it helps fans identify and react to the performers in a certain way.

“There’s just no question about it. It changes things. There’s nobody that’s a major star in the sport today that doesn’t have identifiable music.” (H/T WrestlingInc)

Eric Bischoff explains why NXT is stacking up its card against AEW for Tuesday

October 10, Tuesday, will see NXT and AEW go head-to-head due to a one-off change in schedule for Dynamite. Shawn Michaels and Tony Khan have booked a stacked card for their respective shows. The Heartbreak Kid is bringing in big guns in John Cena and Cody Rhodes to the white and gold brand.

The internet wrestling community is continuing to flood social media with their reactions to NXT and AEW’s collision course. Some called it “petty” on WWE’s part to advertise some of their biggest stars, including The Undertaker, for a potential one-off appearance on their developmental show.

Eric Bischoff, however, thinks the reason WWE is pulling off a stacked card for NXT is not because of its alleged fear of AEW, but because the sports entertainment juggernaut is in the middle of negotiating TV rights.

“People need to pull their head out of their a** or Dave Meltzer’s a**, or the dirt sheet’s a** and be honest and objective. Look at the fact that they’ve been stacking NXT now for several weeks and the numbers have been coming up for several weeks. And they’re not doing it because they’re afraid of AEW, or the genius creative of Tony Khan, which is non-existent,” Bischoff said.

He continued, “They’re doing it because they’re in the middle of a negotiation, or they’re entering into negotiations. They want the most money they can get for that show. Well, gee, how do you do that? Well, let’s put some of our A-listers on our C show. Because as much as you know, the hardcore, and I’m talking about the internet wrestling fans, not the general wrestling fan with reference to AEW.” (H/T  TJR Wrestling)
