As previously announced, MJF will defend the ROH World Tag Team Championship against The Gunns at AEW Full Gear. MJF’s partner, Adam Cole, suffered an ankle injury prior to AEW WrestleDream, so MJF defended the titles by himself against The Righteous. Leading into Full Gear, AEW announced that MJF would have a partner this time.
MJF didn’t make his choice until practically the last minute. At the end of the November 17 episode of AEW Rampage, Samoa Joe saved the world champion from a beatdown at the hands of Bullet Club Gold. MJF then shook hands with Joe, and AEW confirmed that they will team up at the pay-per-view.
Joe previously said he would be MJF’s “friend” in exchange for an AEW World Championship match. With MJF accepting the offer, it appears that the two stars will clash for the gold at some point.
WrestleZone will have full coverage of AEW Full Gear as it airs on November 17.
