Report: Details On Shawn Spears’ Return To WWE NXT

More details behind Shawn Spears‘ return to WWE.

The February 27 episode of WWE NXT saw the shocking return of Shawn Spears, once known to WWE fans as Tye Dillinger. Spears was revealed to be behind the recent mysterious “Three Faces” vignettes as he attacked Ridge Holland with a chair in the ring.

Corey Brennan of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that few in NXT were aware of Spears’ return to the company as one talent noted it was a “complete shock.” Additionally, Spears was not listed on internal documents, while Shawn Michaels served in his spot for rehearsals on Tuesday.

Spears was reportedly signed to a deal for “some time” before his vignettes began airing. He was also hidden backstage and was well-received after his return.

AEW sources indicated to Fightful that Spears was let out of his AEW contract early. Following his WWE release in February 2019, Spears signed with AEW months later. He officially became a free agent as of January 1, 2024.

WrestleZone will continue to provide more information as it becomes available.
