As part of the ongoing partnership between TNA and NXT, TNA star Hammerstone made a couple of appearances on the WWE show. One week, the TNA wrestler battled NXT North American Champion Oba Femi; he wrestled Tony D’Angelo the following week.
While speaking on the Hitting The Turnbuckle Podcast, Hammerstone shared his experience competing on NXT.
“I mean, it was great (wrestling Oba Femi). The whole experience was phenomenal. Because, you know, I got to come in there as TNA’s Hammerstone and be me. Look like me, dress like me, come out to my music, wrestle the way I want, be branded as TNA’s guy. It’s just so cool. It’s such an interesting time in wrestling and to go out there and have a good showing. Obviously, in that match, I didn’t pick up the win. But at the same time, I believe I represented TNA well. At least well enough to come back the following week and pick up a victory. So, man, what a cool feeling, what a cool time in wrestling and hope there’s more to come.
“Oh, 100 percent (there’s pride that comes with representing TNA in WWE) but, not only is it pride. But, it’s just so cool how far things have come because the level of professionalism and respect I was treated with from everybody there. All the staff, all the coaches, all the producers. There was no element of this guy’s an outsider, so we’re gonna give him the short end of the stick. If anything, it was this guy’s an outsider so let’s make sure he has the best experience possible and to know the last time I was in a Performance Center, I was doing forward rolls until I just about puked. So it’s a whole different set of circumstances,” Hammerstone said. [H/T POST Wrestling]
