One of the biggest talking points of WrestleMania 41 was John Cena winning his 17th WWE Championship. While fans applauded Cena for creating history, there was still one thing that people were unhappy about. That was the fact that The Rock never made an appearance.
It was reported earlier by Chris Featherstone of Sportskeeda that The Rock is not in WWE’s plans for WrestleMania 41. Adding to this, there was speculation before WWE Elimination Chamber that he might potentially wrestle Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania. But those rumors were debunked by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp and the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer. The latter reported that there were no plans for Rock to wrestle Cody Rhodes either. In addition, multiple outlets reported that WWE creative was moving on as if The Rock wouldn’t be available, but could have a contingency plan in case things changed.
Recently, during a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer claimed that The Rock was never scheduled to be on the show. Furthermore, Meltzer claimed that this was known since August 2024, if not earlier.

“One time I was even told, I was actually told this, if you really want him there [at Wrestlemania] essentially go in there and report that he’s absolutely not coming because he might get so mad that he’ll come. People expected the day of the show, in the end, he would probably show up because it’s WrestleMania but he never at any point was scheduled to be on the show. It went back to August or maybe even earlier when he said he was not doing Mania this year. Not just not wrestling, he was not doing the show,” Dave Meltzer said. [H/T Wrestling Observer]
The Rock was a recent guest on The Pat McAfee Show, where he explained he wasn’t needed at WrestleMania.
