AZM Responds To Bea Priestley’s Championship Challenge

The newly-crowned NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion AZM already has a challenger waiting for her following NJPW Resurgence 2025.

As previously reported, AZM defeated Mercedes Moné and Mina Shirakawa in the main event of NJPW Resurgence 2025. She rolled up Mina with her AZM Sushi flash pin to pick up the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship for the first time in her career. She becomes the fifth woman in the title’s lineage, joining the likes of Willow Nightingale, Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, and Mercedes Moné.

On the Resurgence pre-show, however, a familiar face from her past made a surprise return. Bea Priestley, formerly WWE’s Blair Davenport, made her first appearance since her WWE release to face Viva Van. Bea then congratulated the new champion after the show following the latter’s title victory.

AZM and Bea Priestley’s history

AZM and Bea go way back to their days in STARDOM’s Queen’s Quest faction. When Bea Priestley first arrived in STARDOM, her debut match was against AZM and Starlight Kid back when the latter were 14 years old.

Upon reuniting, Bea expressed her interest in challenging for the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship in the near future. AZM then responded on Twitter, saying “It feels like lifetime since we was together. But I want you to know that I’m grown up now and not the little girl you remember! Sooner rather than later!”
