WWE Star Built A 10th Century Langhús At His Home For Historical Reenactments

Pro athletes and celebrities have flaunted some extravagant purchases over the years, but the War Raiders’ Erik might have one of the coolest ones to brag about.

The War Raiders recently spoke to WrestleZone, and Erik was asked what it’s like living on a farm. Erik lives with his wife, Sarah (aka Sarah Logan/Valhalla), on a farm, which is a stark contrast from where he grew up in Cleveland.

“So, I grew up the furthest thing from a farm. Literally, I grew up in the city of Cleveland, hearing like gunshots and ambulances, and stuff like that. I’ve never lived more than three minutes from a grocery store. Sarah grew up on a farm. So, we got married and she really wanted to move back to a farm and do that,” Erik explained.

War Raider Erik doesn’t miss city life at all

“Now that I’m there, I couldn’t ever imagine living back in the city. It’s wonderful, just having the space, the freedom, the quiet. It took me like three months to get used to sleeping in that quietness. But knowing where our food comes from and seeing the life cycle and being connected to our food sources is something that I could never… I’m so, grateful for and thankful for that. It’s incredible.”

Erik reiterated that his living arrangements were still a transition, but highlighted the value of having more freedom at his current home.

“I think when we were at Saudi recently, there was like a target range that they had set up. There was like a big welcome party that they did for the wrestlers,” he explained. “There were like guys, ‘Oh yeah, you can go target practice. Isn’t that cool?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, but I can just literally go on my back porch and shoot whatever guns I want.’ Like I said, having that freedom is amazing.”

Erik and Ivar reveal their most “frivolous” purchases

Erik and Ivar were asked to name the craziest thing they’ve bought since they “made it” in professional wrestling. Ivar joked that summed up everything he’s bought, then named things like cars and trucks or go-karts. Erik, however, shared an answer that might be the best answer to that question — he built a replica langhús, or a Viking longhall, on his property.

“I have a very, very, big one. Sarah and I built a Viking Longhall on our farm. Like a 10th-century Danish-style Viking Longhall. Because we do living history, Viking reenactments, stuff like that, Viking combat. So yeah, we built a Longhall,” Erik said.

A Viking longhall was a central area on a Viking chief’s farm. It served as a communal living and gathering area, among other uses. The appearances varied by region, but the structures were all elongated and primarily built with wood.
