Last week on Friday Night SmackDown, the 17-time WWE Undisputed Champion John Cena closed the show by cutting his version of CM Punk’s infamous ‘Pipe Bomb’ promo. While doing so, Cena namedropped some released WWE Superstars, implying that they were names CM Punk had held back.
He mentioned stars such as AEW’s Claudio Castagnoli (formerly known as Cesaro in WWE), TNA Wrestling’s Nic Nemeth, and the Death Match King Matt Cardona.
John Cena wrestled R-Truth in the main event of SmackDown. Truth won the match via disqualification. Cena continued to attack R-Truth. CM Punk came to the rescue, only to get taken out by Cena as well. Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment on Punk through a table and then climbed onto the top of the turnbuckle to drop his version of the ‘Pipe Bomb.’
Back when Punk cut his Pipe Bomb, he namedropped his former friend, Colt Cabana. Cena, on the other hand, namedropped Castagnoli, Nemeth, and Matt Cardona.
Following Friday Night SmackDown, Cardona appeared at a GVW show, and he went on to climb to the top of the turnbuckle and said, ‘Hey John Cena,’ in response to the 17-time WWE Undisputed Champion.
