This writer didn’t have the highest hopes for this match. That said, it was better than expected. Midway through, Stratus and Stratton took the gloves off and tried to maul each other. The finish here was great, with Status attempting to get the win with a Litasault, only to have Stratton get the dupe with her own moonsault, great stuff. Status still got it.

This is how you have a grudge match. These two women hate each other, and it showed here tonight. Cargill and Naomi found new and inventive ways to try to murder each other, and this writer could watch them do it over and over again.

After the match, Stephanie McMahon interviews Vaquer in Spanish.
Grade: B
This was a good battle royal. No surprise entrance, but tons of action. Many storylines played out through the battle royal, and a few new angles may have started (heel turn for Zelina Vega?) For a brief moment, this writer thought Legend was going to win. That’s the hallmark of a good battle royal.

Naomi hits SKY in the head with the briefcase. Naomi sends Ripley through the ring post. Ripley falls to the floor. Split-legged moonsault by Naomi. Naomi pins SKY!
Winner and NEW Women’s World Champion, Naomi!
Grade: A
Great match. These two took a page out of Stratton and Stratus’ book, and this turned into a slugfest early. Ripley tried everything she could, and it didn’t matter. Ripley couldn’t keep SKY down. SKY had a counter for everything, and at this point, she may just have Ripley’s number. Naomi cashing in came out of left field, but was a great choice for the one actual surprise they gave us tonight. Seeing Black Excellence on the screen will NEVER get tired. This writer has no idea what happens next, but with the way Naomi has been cooking, a triple threat at SummerSlam between these three would likely feed families.
WWE Evolution Review:
Tonight’s show wasn’t just solid, it was strong from top to bottom. WWE delivered not just impressive in-ring action, but also high-stakes drama as well. From the betrayal of Blake Monroe, the 57636 storylines that played out in the battle royal, to the absolute banger that was the opening triple threat match, to Naomi and Cargill’s no-holds-barred match, to an insane main event. This show delivered. Match of the night honors will go to Ripley and SKY, but Cargill vs. Naomi and the Intercontinental triple threat are very close seconds (and thirds).
The landscape has changed enormously after the event. Naomi is the Women’s World Champion, and now we get to see what happens when someone who has been deserving for years gets a rocket strapped to her back. We need to proceed with caution, because the Summer of Naomi is upon us!
What do you think happens next? Let us know in the comments!
