The new Women’s World Champion Naomi stands in the ring and is showered with “you deserve it” chants. Naomi covers her ears and says she doesn’t want to hear it. Naomi yells that they didn’t care about the glow, but they want to cheer for her now. They didn’t see this coming. No one saw this coming. No one knows what Naomi is going to do until she does it. Naomi is done with all that mess on SmackDown. Naomi didn’t betray Bianca Belair; Naomi outgrew her. The crowd boos as Naomi quips that she knows Belair and Jade Cargill didn’t want her to shine. They wanted Naomi to be their flunky. “Who has the upper hand now, b*tches?”

Naomi looks SKY dead in the face and tells her she has no idea what she just said, but SKY and Ripley can take their entitled @$$es to the back of the line. Raw GM Adam Pearce walks out on the ramp and says he has news for all three superstars in the ring. Pearce puts Naomi over and congratulates her for her title win. Pearce also puts over Ripley and SKY match at Evolution. At SummerSlam, Pearce books a triple threat for Naomi’s Women’s World Championship.
Grade: B
Opening the show with a promo from our new Women’s World Champion was the way to go. Naomi is on fire right now and more than deserves this spotlight. Naomi has done a magnificent job with her new bad girl persona. Ripley and SKY were obviously going to interrupt this, but this writer legit belly laughed when Naomi looked SKY dead in the face and told her she had no idea what she said. Naomi is becoming one of this writer’s favorite promos in WWE. The triple threat match is warranted, but to legitimize Naomi, she needs to pin Rhea Ripley to retain.

Solid TV match. This one was humming until the finish. Not throwing shad, but Rodriguez was so late in getting her foot on Perez for the cheap pin, it just looked silly. At that point, maybe just don’t do that spot.

After the match, Becky Lynch (all decked out in red and yellow- hah-), power walks to the ring and holds the Intercontinental Championship up while Valkyria rages.
Grade: B+
This was an amazing 2-out-of-3 falls match. It’s hard to strike a balance between the falls for this match type, but the quick first pin with a long period before the next allows for enough time for the story to develop. The story of this one was Valkyria’s back. Bayley was brutal in her assault. Not to be outdone, Valkyria’s worked over Bayley’s knee like a master technician. This writer has never been a big Valkyria fan, but she is growing on me. This match was everything a pro wrestling match should be.

Grade: B+
This entire thing was set up to make Breakker look like a boified killer. Mission accomplished. This was the definition of looking strong in a losing effort. If Breakker wasn’t going to win here, he had to obliterate everyone but the winner. Gauntlet matches are usually hit or miss, with the winner usually being obvious. Here, each competitor (except maybe Penta- it’s not his time yet) had a legitimate chance to win this and be a credible challenger for Gunther. Punk winning was the right choice heading into SummerSlam, but with Mr. Money in the Bank, Seth Rollins being hurt, the returning Roman Reigns seemingly doesn’t have anyone to work with… unless it ends up being Breakker. Seems a bit soon for that.
WWE Raw Review:
Raw kicked off hot with a boiling hot promo from our new Women’s World Champion Naomi, followed by quality in-ring action. This was the best episode of Raw in a long while, with several standout matches, like the 2-out-of-2 falls match and the thrilling gauntlet match main event. Breakker was the standout, with a hell of a performance, despite a loss. CM Punk and Gunther are booked for SummerSlam, and this match has show-stealer written all over it.
The return of Roman Reigns is interesting, with no Rollins to feud with, what’s next for Reigns is unclear, but having Reigns back on TV (semi-regularly at best, most likely) makes both Raw and SmackDown even better from his presence alone. Coming out of SNME and Evolution, tonight’s Raw did a great job of setting the stage for the angles heading into SummerSlam. What did you all think of tonight’s show? Let me know in the comments!
