PROGRESS Proteus Champion Paul Walter Hauser shows off his title on the red blue carpet.
In addition to his work as an actor, Paul Walter Hauser has dipped his toe into the world of wrestling, with notable appearances in MLW, REVOLVER, DEFY, and PROGRESS. At the latter, Hauser recently captured the PROGRESS Wrestling Proteus Champion in a five-way at
PROGRESS Chapter 179 in Las Vegas. Now, he’s carrying the title along with him to the premiere of his latest movie project, Fantastic Four: First Steps.
“I’m actually a wrestler trapped in a character actor’s body,” Hauser said (via a press release) at the Fantastic Four world premiere, which emanated from Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles on July 21. Fantastic Four: First Steps, produced by Marvel Studios, stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn as the titular quartet. Hauser has been cast as Harvey Elder, also known as Mole Man, the ruler of Subterranea.
PROGRESS Wrestling is proud to have Hauser as its champion
“We couldn’t be prouder of Paul Walter Hauser’s incredible success, both in Hollywood and the squared circle,” said Lee McAteer, co-owner of PROGRESS Wrestling. “To see him hold the PROGRESS PROTEUS World Championship and represent PROGRESS worldwide has been nothing short of amazing. We can’t wait to welcome Paul back to PROGRESS in London on 25th August to defend his championship.”
Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released in theaters across the United States later this week. Also this weekend, Hauser will find out the identity of his first PROGRESS Proteus Championship challenger. Simon Miller and Charles Crowley will battle at PROGRESS’ Stay Humble event to determine the next contender. The winner will go on to face Hauser at PROGRESS Chapter 183: 100 Volts on Monday, August 25. That event will take place at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London.
