A match that was reportedly set to take place next month at WWE SummerSlam has been changed due to fan reaction.
In recent months, a storyline on SmackDown began between Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. With the idea for it to lead to a one-on-one match between the two women at SummerSlam.
However, something happened that seemingly no one expected. The tag team of Flair and Bliss got over. So much so, that Flair got a very positive fan reaction earlier this month at WWE Evolution 2.
According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, Flair requested to keep the team together instead of splitting them up. This led to a change in the SummerSlam card, which will now see Flair and Bliss challenge Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles instead.
The card for SummerSlam is coming together:
- Street Fight for the Undisputed WWE Championship: John Cena (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
- World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (c) vs. CM Punk
- WWE Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill
- Women’s World Championship: Naomi (c) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. IYO SKY
- WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: The Judgment Day (c) vs. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss
- Steel Cage match for the United States Championship: Solo Sikoa (c) vs. Jacob Fatu
- WWE Intercontinental Championship: Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. AJ Styles
- No DQ for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lyra Valkryia
- Randy Orton and Jelly Roll vs. Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul
- Roman Reigns and Jey Uso vs. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed
WrestleZone will have live coverage of WWE SummerSlam next month.
