Jimmy Hart Reacts To His Friend Hulk Hogan’s Death

WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Hart talks about his last conversation with Hulk Hogan before his sudden death.

Hart shared that he spoke with Hulk Hogan just hours before the wrestling legend passed away. In an interview with PEOPLE, Hart said he called Hogan on Wednesday night, and by Thursday morning, the tragic news had broken.

“I called [Hogan] on Wednesday night, and then Thursday morning is when everything took place. So just…just overnight it all happened, but it was so positive the day before.” Hart shared that he last saw Hogan about a month ago, before the WWE icon underwent neck surgery.

The two often watched wrestling and did karaoke together at Hogan’s Hangout bar in Clearwater, Florida. “He was great. He had great food to eat that night. He was talking with the fans. He was just phenomenal.”

Just last week, Hart called Hogan and spoke with his assistant, who told him Hogan was “doing great.” Hart responded, “Tell him I love him.” Following receiving the devastating news Hart at Hogan’s home said, “It just hits so fast. It was like, ‘Oh my God.’ We thought he was doing so well, you know? We didn’t go to see him at the house and didn’t go to see him at the hospital, because we wanted to make sure that he didn’t get any infections or anything else, like if anybody had a cold or brought anything in. So, that’s what we all did.”

Ahead of WWE SmackDown, Hart also spoke about WWE paying tribute to the Hulkster. “Anytime you lose anybody in this business, it’s such a tight, tight-knit group, it’s like a fraternity, you know? And it affects all of us. And the show must go on and all that, but that’s just the way it is.”

Jimmy Hart says Hulk Hogan was like traveling with Elvis Presley

Jimmy Hart said fans were talking to him about Hulk Hogan everywhere he went. “It was like traveling with Elvis Presley. It was just unbelievable. The fans just came out of the woodwork for Hulk. I mean, no matter where we went, it was insane.”

Hart said Hulk looked tough and unstoppable in the ring, but he was actually a kind, soft-hearted person backstage. He said Hogan loved wrestling but couldn’t do it anymore because of years of injuries and surgeries.

Hogan had been in the news for his health condition before his death. Just a day before the tragic news, Hart had shared a positive update on Hulk Hogan’s condition. He wrote, “Hulk is doing great, doing phenomenal! Last night at karaoke with Nick was absolutely fantastic, baby!!!” However, Hart has since deleted that post.
